Played a gig @ The Beehive in Swindon on Wednesday for Oxjam. Got to play with Simon Curwood and Rob Beckinsale who both had really nice voices. I got some video footage of the gig so i'll stick a track or two up a bit later. Was a good laugh and ended up getting a couple of mates on stage to do The Thong Song by Sisqo for a laugh!. Next gig is the 1st November @ The Victoria in Swindon with Durera and Dave Corrigan

Last weekend was the annual Sugarhill Festival in Swindon, and I was lucky enough to be asked to play the Shuffle stage, which was ace! There were some great bands on and we really enjoyed ourselves. Here are some photos and a couple of videos of our antics!!

Haven't posted for a while, been on holiday with no internet access! Anyway, got a gig this weekend at the Sugarhill Festival near Swindon. Going to be playing on the Shuffle stage at 6pmish for half an hour, should be a laugh! Also had Survive played on Brunel FM last week which was cool, and will be doing a live performance and interview with them which will go out on the 16th September! Should be able to record it and stick something up here when it airs!
In other news, i'm still working on my album and now have 40+ tracks so far to work on that i've written in the past few months. Release of the single through 4th Street Records has been postponed as we couldn't quite get everything together in time for when we wanted to get it out. We are going to look at it again early next year and see about working together on a release. In the meantime i'll be doing some more writing and recording and getting out there gigging as much as I can hopefully!

The weekend just gone was probably the biggest and best weekend of music in the town of Swindon ever! 40 local bands playing over 4 days, and every venue was jam packed - it was acetastic! The main aims of it were to raise money for the Prospect Hospice - over £2500 was raised, and also to show the people of Swindon how many decent bands there are here. Even I was suprised how much talent is in the area! I played on the Saturday at the Rolleston Arms with full band and had a great laugh. Even chucked in a R. Kelly and Snoop Dogg cover for good measure. We managed to get through the set without any massive clangers, which was no mean feat considering we hadn't got together for a practice since March! Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and the other bands on were bloody brilliant, especially Charlie Bath and Gaz Brookfield who were on before me and both have bags of talent and great songs! Other highlights of the weekend seemed to be Seven Years on and The Alfonz, who had everyone talking about them!
Should have some more gigs lined up in the near future so stay tuuuuuuned!

So Friday the 30th Finally comes round and i'm playing a club called The Furnace in Swindon. Disaster has already struck as Jamie can't make it, leaving me drummerless, and this morning Chris tells me he can't make it either, so looks like it's just me! Worst thing is I have to headline after 3 Indie Rock bands, so it's gonna be hard! I get to sound check to find out one of the other bands (Seven Years On) are a drummer down as well so will be doing an acoustic set. Drummers eh, the unreliable little scamps!
Soundcheck takes me about 5 mintues thanks to it just being me, so I leave the venue to pick up some mates. By the time I get back i've missed a bit of Seven Years On's set, but they manage to knock out some ace tunes! Looks like theres a decent crowd in tonight (worst luck!) so i make a dash to the bar to get me some liquid courage, and watch the next band Teabo do their thing! They put on a good show and the crowd are loving it! Up next are Satellite 17, good mates of mine, who put on a fantastic set, really energetic, epic stuff!
Now it's my turn! I greet the audience and am met by cheers, which is ace! I get about halfway through the first song, and out the corner of my eye, I see Chris! The little bugger gets on stage, straps on a bass and starts playing. The crowd goes wild and we finish the song on a high! He says he's gonna stick around and play the whole set so I start on the next song. Again about half way through, my old drummer Leks gets up and starts bashing away, to similar applause. I feel like i've been rescued as I had no chance to practice for a solo set, and we rip into the tune with gay abandon! We play the rest of the set (including an inpromtu R. Kelly number) and get to the last song, Leks leaves the drum stool and Jamie appears out of nowhere and helps me finish the set off. Bit of a weird night, and i'm sure the audience thought it was all planned, but i'm thankful for the help! Looks like i've got a band again!
Next up for me is an acoustic set @ Riffs Bar near Swindon on the 18th, followed by a full band appearance @ the Swindon Shuffle (The Rolleston Pub) on the 21st July!
Cheers

Tune in to BBC Wiltshire Sound or BBC Radio Swindon this Sunday at 4pm for the Underground show, cause they are going to play my song "Survive" Which looks likely to be released as my first single sometime this year! Just finalising all the details for that, so more news soon!
Also if you are out and about in Swindon tomorrow, me and Chris will be playing @ The Furnace in Swindon, which we are really looking forward to! Details below!
Found a review of a gig me and Jamie did a couple of weeks ago, so thought i'd post it here. It's pretty good, and considering we didn't have a chance to get a practice in, or play full band style, we did alright!
The line up for the show this week was certainly interesting, the
reason being that all three acts were essentially singer songwriters
that had drawn on other musicians to expand on their normal musical
delivery. First up was Jon Trowbridge, probably better known for
fronting Broken Daylight but now often seen, as tonight, sat at the
keyboard delivering something in an altogether different vein. Even
though on paper Jon's music tonight is not the sort of thing that I
would normally go for, it is at least nice to see an act brave enough
to be trying something different amongst all of the guitar delivered
rock based music which is the norm these days. Although the first time
I saw Jon he had a drummer and a bass to round out the sound, here
brother Jamie only accompanied him on the aforementioned four string.
Despite having reservations for the set, by the time the two of them
launch into the third song "Things are Gonna Change," I am certainly
warming to what they are offering up for us. Though the lack of drums
may have taken something away from the overall sound, some energetic
and thoughtful basslines helped to lift the music; Survive in
particular is a good example of the added dimension that Jamie manages
to bring to the songs. Obvious references are found in the forms of
Stevie Wonder and also in the more contemporary form of Ben Folds, and
whilst it may lack the dexterity of the those names that I mention, you
can certainly see what it is that Jon is trying to do here and
considering that it is still early days for this new musical outlet it
will be interesting to see how this shapes up. It was certainly
refreshingly different.
just a quicky to say i've got another gig booked for the 30th June @ the 12 Bar, Swindon for the launch of the Swindon Shuffle CD. 18 tracks of local band goodness with all proceeds going to the Prospect Hospice!
Cheers
